Wax Drawings 2015
I began coating my drawings in wax in order to introduce texture and a tactile quality to them. However in doing this different meanings arose. The wax is reminiscent of a veil, excluding the viewer from the drawing, excluding them from my experience in nature. Also as the pieces became translucent after being coated in wax I sometimes show the back of the piece, exaggerating further this notion of excluding the viewer from my experience, exaggerating my solitude in the landscape. However as the wax removed the evidence of mark making, from my own hand, I too find myself being removed from the piece.
